Festival Profile
Between dreams and reality - a new formula of the festival.
Consistently since 2 years we're changing festival profile. In 2009 our festival
transformed from short films festival into a summer event with new feature sections.
Between dreams and reality - is this year's password. What we mean by that and how we
understand it?
Full-length feature movies, from absurd and grotesque, through action and adventure, to thriller,
horror, fantasy & sci-fi. Wide range of fantastic movies. Innovative, metaphysical & dreamlike.
In addition, Sopot Film Festival is the latest full-length productions of world-class, and
the films, which could not yet see in Polish cinemas. From news to unknown
Movies-known directors. From the creators of the famous debuts their latest release.
Give some art directors from the mainstream of American independent cinema, European cinema
and Asian and Latin American cinema, and classic animated film masters. Productions
present at festivals in Sundance, Cannes, Berlin or Sitges.

Fantastic main competition
This competition is created to present full-lenght films, both features & animations, corresponding with fantastic cinema theme.
By term 'fantastic cinema' we mean movies made in unconventional way and against stereotypical meaning. It is 'fantastic' in a wide rage of meaning. Thriller and action, film noir, anime, comics adaptations, sci-fi, fantasy, horror and animation features from over the world. It’s the first and the only one fantastic competition in Poland.
World Shorts & Short Anima competitions
This sections are meant for short movies, features and animations, from all over the world. We will present commerial, artistic and inpendent productions. From classic feature, through experimental impressions and 3D animation.
